CHICAGO, May 15, 2023 (Newswire.com) - The American Association of Medical Assistants® (AAMA) installed Sherry Bogar, CN-BC, CMA (AAMA), as the 2022-2023 AAMA Vice Speaker of the House at the 66th AAMA Annual Conference. In this capacity, Bogar, a resident of League City, Texas, represents medical assistants and CMAs (AAMA)® across the nation.
Medical assisting is one of the nation's careers growing much faster than the average for all occupations, according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. Medical assistants work in outpatient health care settings. Employers are seeking and recruiting these allied health professionals because of their uniquely diverse clinical and administrative patient-centered training.
"It has been an honor to be chosen to continue to serve the association and profession as health care continues to evolve," says Bogar. "Credentialed medical assistants are an integral part of the care team who provide quality and safe patient care."
Bogar has served the AAMA in many capacities, including as a 2018-2022 AAMA Trustee. She has also served as the chair and member of many AAMA committees, task forces and strategy teams, including Marketing, Social Media, Partnership, Membership Development, Leadership Development, Bylaws and Resolutions, AAMA Annual Conference and Career Professional Development. In addition to being the 2022-2023 AAMA Vice Speaker of the House, she's serving as the Texas Society of Medical Assistants Speaker of the General Assembly, Website Chair and Publicity Chair.
Bogar has been a CMA (AAMA) for over 20 years. She currently works as a patient navigator at UTMB Surgical Oncology and Breast Health Clinic in League City, Texas. Bogar also serves her community as the Vice President of the Clear Creek Swim League.
The Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)® — or CMA (AAMA) — credential represents a medical assistant who has been credentialed through the Certifying Board of the AAMA. The Certifying Board of the AAMA was awarded accreditation by the International Accreditation Service under ISO/IEC Standard 17024:2012, the global benchmark for personnel certification bodies, thus distinguishing the CMA (AAMA) from all other medical assisting certifications.
