Credello, a fintech platform that provides its users with personalized and unbiased recommendations to help make better financial decisions, is excited to announce the winner of its $10,000 Credello College Scholarship.
Bella Remirez was named the winner of the $10,000 Credello College Scholarship. The contest, which ran from November through July 15, 2022, asked participants to create an original video between 60 and 180 seconds exploring the themes of financial knowledge at a young age, taking control of finances, family money lessons, and the best and worst financial advice they have received from family and friends. Not only did Remirez, the first person in her family to attend a four-year college, succeed, but she challenged viewers to look at financial privilege and the importance of having honest money talks with family. Out of 54 qualifying entries, Remirez was chosen as the winner. Watch her winning entry here. Schools including the University of Pennsylvania, Iowa State University, and the University of Connecticut all featured the Credello scholarship on their websites as a resource for students.
The cost of attending college for four years—including tuition, fees, and room and board—has skyrocketed since 1980. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, between 1980 and 2020, the price increased from $10,231 to $28,775 coming out to a 180% increase. As of 2020, 56% of college students say they can no longer afford their tuition, according to a survey by OneClass of more than 10,000 current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from 200-plus colleges and universities in the U.S. Credello launched this scholarship program to help college students secure their financial future.
In the meantime, we know it’s not only students that need help with their financial future. Credello offers many tools and resources to offer you unbiased recommendations for paying off your debt. Follow Credello on social for more scholarship opportunities for 2023.
